Land of Iron:  local history and the roasted iron ore that crossed the North York Moors – Geoff Taylor

Geoff will explain how forming our local history group linked us with the Rosedale History Society, two groups separated by geography but joined by history. This led us to partner with the National Park and gained a £3 million grant to tell the story of the Rosedale and Esk Valley railways, in the early days of which North East England produced almost 20% of the world’s iron and steel.

The project now totals over £4.25 million and hosts a new display at the Danby Moors visitor centre, and its story is being installed at various viewing points across the Land of Iron.

£2, incl. light refreshments
